How to Ease from Dengue Fever and Its Symptoms

Dengue fever cases have increased slightly in the Philippines during the first three months of 2015 as compared to the same period in 2014, according to the Philippines Department of Health.
In the Philippines, dengue is reported as a leading cause of childhood hospitalisations.
According to the World Health Organization, dengue is transmitted by the bite of a mosquito infected with one of the four dengue virus serotypes. It is a febrile illness that affects infants, young children and adults with symptoms appearing 3-14 days after the infective bite. As many as 400 million people are infected yearly.
Dengue is not transmitted directly from person-to-person and symptoms range from mild fever, to incapacitating high fever, with severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, and rash. There is no vaccine or any specific medicine to treat dengue. People who have dengue fever should rest, drink plenty of fluids and reduce the fever using paracetamol or see a doctor.
Dengue Symptoms and Signs
After being bitten by a mosquito carrying the virus, the incubation period ranges from three to 15 (usually five to eight) days before the signs and symptoms of dengue appear in stages.
Dengue starts with chills, headache, pain upon moving the eyes, appetite loss, feeling unwell (malaise), and low backache. Painful aching in the legs and joints occurs during the first hours of illness. The temperature rises quickly as high as 40 C, with relatively low heart rate (bradycardia) and low blood pressure (hypotension). The eyes become reddened. A flushing or pale pink rash comes over the face and then disappears. The lymph nodes in the neck and groin are often swollen.
Dengue can affect anyone but tends to be more severe in people with compromised immune systems.
For typical dengue, the treatment is concerned with relief of the symptoms and signs.
How? The patient should be able to recover from fever and pains through the proper nutrients that could strengthen the immune systems. Additionally, the blood cells need to absorb enzymes that will be helpful in bringing back the platelet counts to normal.
